Low Income Housing ApartmentsThe midwest is a low-cost area compared to other areas of the U.S. and when you combine that with affordable housing, rent rates can be extremely low. However, in many areas, your income limits are also very low making it harder to qualify for those with a higher income range.
The midwest areas offer some healthy living spots and a low cost of living. Minneapolis ranks #1 on the Forbes Top 20 Healthiest Cities list. Also often mentioned are Madison, Wisc., Bloomington, Ind., Columbus, Ohio, and Ann Arbor, Mich. as well as others.
